KORR & PLUME · KUALA LUMPUR
A practice for those
who think on the page.
We read carefully, write in the margin, and correspond over time. Our engagements are for senior leaders, owners, and stewards who find clarity in the written exchange.
A consulting practice operates most naturally when the work is slow and the relationship is long.

OUR ENGAGEMENTS
Three forms of work,
suited to different readers.
Each engagement is entered with care and concluded on terms the client determines.
ENGAGEMENT I
Marginal Reading
A short written engagement in which a senior partner reads materials submitted by the client and returns annotations in the side margin. The annotations are not directives but observations — questions the partner felt while reading, places where further thought might be merited, points that seemed to read well.
The form is intended for clients who appreciate the difference between being told what to do and being read carefully. Engagement runs across three weeks.
- Careful senior-partner reading of your submitted materials
- Written annotations returned in the margin — questions and observations
- No directives — only thoughtful engagement with your thinking
- Three-week engagement window
RM 920
Duration: Three weeks
Format: Written annotations returned by correspondence
Suitable for: Executives, founders, writers of strategy documents
ENGAGEMENT II
Year of Notes
A retained arrangement across a twelve-month period in which the firm offers a continuous companion to a chief executive or managing partner. The work is conducted largely by correspondence — written notes exchanged at the leader's initiative — supplemented by a quarterly meeting.
The arrangement suits leaders who think most clearly on the page, and who would value a careful interlocutor over the course of a year.
- Twelve-month retained engagement
- Written correspondence at the leader's initiative
- Four quarterly meetings across the year
- A thoughtful interlocutor for the questions that remain open
RM 2,540
Duration: Twelve months
Format: Written notes + quarterly meetings
Suitable for: Chief executives, managing partners, senior directors
ENGAGEMENT III
Stewardship Engagement
An extended engagement supporting owners, trustees, and senior partners in their work as stewards of a long-held enterprise. The engagement attends to questions of governance, succession, and purpose, but is willing to spend time on the slower questions of meaning and continuity.
Cadence is determined by the steward, and the firm offers no expectation of pace beyond the readiness of those it serves.
- Governance, succession, and purpose — addressed in writing
- Questions of meaning and continuity held alongside operational concerns
- Cadence set entirely by the steward
- Support for owners and trustees of long-established enterprises
RM 4,260
Duration: Extended — pace set by client
Format: Written correspondence + meetings as required
Suitable for: Owners, trustees, family enterprise stewards
WHY THIS PRACTICE
What distinguishes work
conducted on the page.
The written form slows the exchange in a way that benefits both parties — the question is held more fully, and the response arrives with more care.
Written engagement over spoken advice
The margin is where the most careful thinking appears. We work in writing because writing demands precision, and because leaders who read their own notes often see their situation differently from those who only hear advice spoken aloud.
Senior partner involvement throughout
Every engagement is handled directly by a senior partner. No handoffs, no junior staff. The person who reads your materials is the person who writes the annotations and joins the meetings.
Pace determined by the client
We do not create urgency where none exists. In Stewardship and Year of Notes engagements, the client sets the rhythm of correspondence. The firm responds; it does not push.
Confidentiality as a working condition
The written exchange between client and firm remains private. We do not publish case studies, share client names, or reference engagements in promotional contexts. Discretion is not a feature — it is the nature of the work.
Rooted in the Malaysian context
Our practice is located in Kuala Lumpur. We are familiar with the governance frameworks, family enterprise structures, and the particular pressures facing senior leaders in Malaysia. That familiarity shapes how we read and respond.
No prescriptions, only observations
We do not arrive with a framework to impose. We read what you share, note what we observe, and ask what seems worth asking. The thinking remains yours — we attend to the quality of the space in which it develops.
AN OPEN INVITATION
If the work seems suited to where you are, we are glad to receive your note.
There is no cost to writing to us, and no obligation attached to the first exchange. Simply describe what you are thinking about, and we will consider whether this practice can be of use.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions we are often asked
before a first engagement.
If something is not addressed here, the most direct course is to write to us directly.
What kind of materials can I submit for a Marginal Reading?
Strategic documents, internal memos, long-form thinking pieces, board papers, letters you are struggling to write — any written material where a careful second reading might be of value. We do not require a particular format, and we read the work as you submit it.
How much time should I expect to spend in a Year of Notes engagement?
As much or as little as your situation calls for. The engagement is retained, meaning we are available across the year. Some clients write to us several times in a single month; others are quiet for eight weeks and then begin a long correspondence. The arrangement follows your rhythm, not ours.
Is the Stewardship Engagement appropriate if succession is still years away?
Yes. Many of the most useful stewardship conversations happen long before succession is imminent. Questions of purpose, governance culture, and what the enterprise is for tend to be most honestly approached when there is no immediate pressure. The engagement is well-suited to early thinking.
How do the quarterly meetings in the Year of Notes engagement work?
They are held in person at our Kuala Lumpur office, or by video call if the client is based elsewhere in Malaysia or internationally. The meetings are unstructured — they pick up from wherever the written exchange has reached. There is no agenda prepared in advance by the firm, though the client is welcome to bring one.
Do you work with clients outside Kuala Lumpur?
The written nature of our work means geography is rarely an obstacle. Clients in Penang, Johor, and further abroad correspond with us regularly. Meetings that would normally occur in person can be held by video call without significant loss of quality.
What is the process for beginning an engagement?
Write to us using the form below, or by telephone. Describe in broad terms what you are thinking about. We will respond within two working days with a short note. If there seems to be a good fit, we suggest a brief call or meeting to understand the context more fully, after which we can confirm the engagement and its terms.
